Canadian publishing is in a constant state of flux. Our industry is changing as the culture and technology that surrounds us continues to grow and develop. Our continued success and ambition is represented through our membership—through the ideas and inspirations cultivated by seasoned veterans and newcomers alike. To this end, the Canadian Book Professionals Association, in cooperation with some of the most creative and forward-thinking minds from our industry, is pleased to announce The Spring 2013 Mentor Mash.
On May 21st, the CanBPA will be hosting an evening event at the Cadillac Lounge, designed to facilitate introductions and networking opportunities for those new to the industry. In what can be best described as a “group speed date”, students, up-and-coming professionals, and individuals hoping to get a foot in the door of Canadian publishing will have the opportunity to meet with industry veterans and virtuosos to ask questions and seek advice.
Over the coming weeks we will be reaching out to schools, industry programs, and large and small publishing houses looking for anyone wanting to get a leg-up on the industry as a whole, or to better understand even a small part of it.
What we need right now is help—your help.
If you are a professional with three years experience or more working in Canadian publishing—in-house, freelance, press, and all points between—and you have the desire to foster upcoming talent, we want you to be involved in this program. We want your years of experience and your stories—who you are, what you do, and how you got into this industry in the first place.
Additionally, if you yourself do not wish to be a mentor, but know someone who might be an ideal candidate for this program, we’d love to hear your nominations.
